FrightFest 2013 Film Review: Hatchet III

Hatchet III

“A gore-filled ride through the swamplands!”

Victor Crowley is back… of course he is; that’s what he does. After barely surviving the over-called maniac in Hatchet 2, Marybeth (Danielle Harris) is arrested after walking into a Honey Island police station carrying what appears to be a human scalp and a shotgun. Interrogation reveals the aftermath left by Victor Crowley down at the bayou. Believing she’s killed the deformed maniac once and for all, Marybeth is content to spend the rest of her days in jail, but when she is visited by local busybody and Victor Crowley investigator, Amanda (Caroline Williams), she soon realises that killing Crowley is not as easy as quartering him with a chainsaw. With a show-stealing cameo from Sid Haig, Hatchet III is a gore-filled ride through the swamplands. If you enjoyed the first two slices of cake, this is your icing.

ADAM MILLARD

Second opinion

Following on from the first two Hatchet films, Hatchet III maintains the consistently terrible standard in this mind-boringly dull slasher franchise. An entertaining Sid Haig cameo comes far too late and cannot save this abomination of a film. Hatchet III attempts to pay homage to eighties horror slashers but just winds up insulting them with this effort.

  1. Hm? I sure would love to view this one. I love horror flicks like this and sitting by a roaring fireplace too in the dead of winter!
