Richard Matheson: A Real Legend

We were all deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a truly great writer this week. Richard Matheson inspired a generation of writers with his stories. Last year, I Am Legend was voted the greatest vampire novel of the century by the Horror Writers Association. The book inspired three different film adaptations: The Last Man on Earth starring Vincent Price, The Omega Man starring Charlton Heston, and I Am Legend starring Will Smith. Matheson wrote several memorable episodes of The Twilight Zone, including ‘Nightmare At 20’000 Feet’ starring William Shatner. Here, The Guardian pays tribute to one of the greatest writers to have ever picked up a pen.
