Afterlife with ArchieArchie Comics Kicking off a Zombie Apocalypse Storyline

Roberto Aguierre-Sacasa has been hired to write a new comic book series entitled Afterlife with Archie, which will see the wholesome teens battling hordes of the undead in New York. This news follows Warner Bros’ announcement that a live-action Archie film, with a screenplay by Aguierre-Sacasa, has been confirmed. The first arc of the comic, Escape from Riverdale, will launch later this year.

Carpenter and Curtis Team Up for New Halloween Commentary

John Carpenter and Jamie Lee Curtis have reunited to create a new commentary for the upcoming 35th Anniversary Edition blu-ray of Halloween.

Grimm Up North Hosting Two Double-Bills

On 20 June, Grimm Up North will be premiering two new Indie US horror movies, Static and Sanitarium, at the Dancehouse Theatre in Manchester. Then, on the 25 June, there are two UK premieres, with Sawney – Flesh of Man and Outpost II. Both shows start at 7:30pm, and tickets are available from the Dancehouse website.

Friday the 13th: The Complete Collection Set for Blu-Ray

Warner Bros are to release all twelve films in the Friday the 13th series in one huge package. The films will be stretched across 10 discs, with 7 of the films getting the hi-definition treatment for the very first time. There will also be a bonus blu-ray of special features and a 40 page companion book taken from Peter Bracke’s Crystal Lake Memories. The set is expected to be released on September 13, which just so happens to be a Friday.

New Frankenstein Movie Set for 2014

The official release date has been given to Paul McGuigan’s Frankenstein. The film, written by Chronicle’s Max Landis and co-starring Daniel Radcliffe as the Hunchback, will be released on October 17.

Hannibal Returning for Season Two

NBC has confirmed that a second season of its chilling drama, Hannibal, will air next year. The show has been a favourite with fans and critics, however the ratings dropped on the last few episodes, which is why it’s taken this long to decide its fate. It will return for a 13-episode run in 2014.

VCI to Release Dario Argento’s The Girl with the Crystal Plumage on Blu-Ray

VCI Home Entertainment will be releasing a new blu-ray edition of Dario Argento’s The Girl with the Crystal Plumage. The previous version, released through Blue Underground, is now out of print and very hard to find. The movie will be sold separately on blu-ray and DVD from 9 August, though it’s unknown what the bonus features will be, if any.

  1. The teaming of john carpenter and jamie lee curtis will be a long awaited reunion. I know it will be a great filming. Jamie did a great part in the halloween the night he came home. I will always treasure the good ol’ halloween classics as well as all the other great classics and as I try to make a classic of my own I will keep the great ones in mind. Although I know I will never be able to measure up to their greatness, I hope to see a lot more remakes of classics in the near future such as Dr. jekyll and mr hyde remake will be so trilling and great!
