Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

gaslight gothicLatest in pastiche Sherlock Holmes series from Edge Publishing, Gaslight Gothic, available for pre-order tomorrow

This anthology of shorts in the gothic vein, featuring the world’s greatest detective, includes stories by Stephen Volk, David Stuart Davies, Lyndsay Faye and Nancy Holder among others. This anthology of pastiches delves into the darker side of the legendary detective, embracing the language and mood of gothic horror, while holding true to the mystery of Conan Doyle’s originals. The anthology will be released in eBook format on 9 July and pre-orders begin tomorrow, here.

Capcom release first gameplay videos of Resident Evil 2 remake

Every survival horror fan on the planet has been looking forward to seeing one of the very best of the seminal Resident Evil series remade for modern consoles. Capcom decided that this year’s E3 was the ideal place to showcase some of the gameplay as a video. Take a look below:


TributeWriter and educater Chris Knoblaugh using horror to help children with reading difficulties

As an educator who came up against the challenge of helping children with difficulty reading within the limited available time for a regular teacher, Chris Knoblaugh knew she had to try something a little different. After looking around for source material that would draw kids in with compelling stories, while pitching language at a level they could grasp, she decided horror might be an ideal medium. So was born her first book, Tribute. She has another book in the pipeline for this year. Judging by reviews on Amazon and Goodreads, while it is doing its intended job of making tweens  read, the book is also receiving good reviews from adults. You can find Tribute, here.
