Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …
Ghost Box – a beautifully presented collection of classic horror stories to keep you entertained this autumn
Available now from Hingston and Olson is Ghost Box, a collection of horrific short stories by such authors as Clark Ashton Smith, George R. R. Martin, Richard Matheson and more besides. But this is no ordinary anthology, presented in an ornate collection case (see above), each story is an individually bound book with its own artwork and an introduction by comedian and horror aficionado Patton Oswalt. Each box is handmade and, though shipped from Canada, is available throughout much of the world. Grab your copy here.
Final Frame, the third annual HWA short horror film competition, confirmed for Stokercon 2018
Any budding film directors and producers looking for ways to publicise their horror shorts should look no further than the Horror Writer’s Association’s third annual short film competition, Final Frame, taking place at Biltmore Hotel in Providence, Rhode Island, alongside next year’s Stokercon. The 2018 event will take place on 2 March and will be writer and producer Craig Engler (Z Nation), author Grady Hendrix (My Best Friend’s Exorcism) and more experts from the industry. The entry fee is just $15 until 15 December, rising to $25 thereafter. The maximum running time for film entries is, appropriately, thirteen minutes, with the winning film picking up $1,000 and more accolades, still to be announced. Enter your film here.
