Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …
Read by Jon Padgett (The Secret of Ventriloquism), Thomas Ligotti’s story, The Bungalow House, is chillingly brought to life on a new limited edition LP. The release is lovingly presented on 150 gram vinyl, with a heavyweight tip-on gatefold jacket. Also included is a twelve page booklet with a brand new essay by Matt Cardin (Horror Literature Through History) and an 18″ x 24″ poster. The pre-order period ends on 1 February, so go on over to Cadabra Records to guarantee your copy now.
From Michales Joy, author of the fantasy novels Warlord Rising and Warlord Revenge, comes the latest horror release from Bloodshot Books. Red Diamond sees a monster heading into the city of Pikeburn, with its mind set on destruction. Worse still, it was sent there by Red Diamond, a government agency who unleash monsters on unwitting cities every year, then broadcast the carnage live. Enter Sherrif Yan Corban and a rag tag team of allies (including a school teacher and a meth kingpin), hell bent on defending their city from the lab-grown beast. Red Diamond is currently on-sale at a pre-order promotional price of £2.99 or $2.99 in the USA ahead of release on Saturday 27 January. Get your copy here, right now.
In a bid to take revenge for his dead seven-year-old daughter, a man known as ‘Neuron’ sets up a live ‘red room’ a place of torture where users of the dark web can stream live quality video as the torture takes place. Add in that the victim, Judy, is a sufferer of the rare Frigoli syndrome, meaning she has no ability to distinguish between reality and fiction and you have the recipe for a terrifying film. You can read more about the movie at the official website here, and take a look at the trailer, below for a hint of the madness it includes.
