Joe Openshaw is fresh out of prison and trying to turn his life around, avoiding the habits that led to his addiction and subsequent incarceration. When he stumbles upon a buried jar of old pennies, each with a hand-written note attached, he thinks it nothing more than a curiosity. That is, until the wishes on the notes begin to come true. A Penny For Your Thoughts is the new novel by Robert Ford (The Compound) and Matt Hayward (The Faithful) is released through Poltergeist Press on 1 June and is available for pre-order in kindle or paperback, here.

Dead by Dawn festival returns to Edingburh 18 – 21 April

For its twenty-sixth edition, Edinburgh’s Dead By Dawn film festival returns with sixty-four films from fifteen countries across four days of horror. This year’s event will feature the guest of honour, cult film director Jeff Lieberman (Blue SunshineSatan’s Little Helper) who will host a retrospective of his films. Aside from this, there will be a number of UK and Scottish premieres of films such as The Nightshifter and Cutterhead. After a killer surf session, Scot Kring stops at the local Fasmart for a slushy. Once outside though, a homeless guy has a stroke, subsequently reciting a latin incantation which summons a demon Kevin Smith lookalike. Stephen Graham Jones says “I haven’t had this much fun watching terrible stuff happen in a long time.” I’m Not Even Supposed to Be Here Today is released by Eraserhead Press and is available right now, here.
