Aickman’s Heirs

Undertow Books have announced the release of the aptly named, weird fiction anthology Aickman’s Heirs. The book, set for release in Spring 2015, is composed of weird fiction short stories in the style of late author Robert Aickman, and will be edited by Simon Strantzas. As a prominent weird fiction writer, Strantzas has been chosen as the ideal editor for the compilation, which will consist of strange tales from a range of well-acclaimed modern weird fiction authors. Leeds to experience Spectral horrors

On Friday 21 November, Waterstones in Leeds will host Spectral Press’ latest event. Horror fans will have the opportunity to hear readings from The Spectral Book of Horror Stories, performed by Gary McMahon, Alison Littlewood and Reginald Oliver. Editor Mark Morris will also be there as well as will publisher Simon Marshall-Jones. The audience will get the chance to pose any queries to the special guests in a question and answer session, which will then be followed by a signing. Manchester is filled with screams

This week sees Manchester’s EventCity invaded by zombies as the apocalypse themed event Scream Park UK opens up for the Halloween season. For £20, thrill seekers can spend 4 hours trapped inside a zombie ridden enclosure, with only military personnel providing any chance of survival. On top of this adrenalin pumping experience, there will be food stalls and free thrill rides to add to the excitement. The event will run from 17 October – 2 November. The Evil Within

Developed by Tango Gameworks, and released by Bethesda Softworks, The Evil Within is now available to purchase in the UK. The horror survival game, directed by Shinji Mikami, is available for Playstation 3, Playstation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One and Microsoft Windows. The original release date has been moved forward to coincide with the US release, and UK gamers  can now get themselves a copy.

The Devil’s Detective

The Devil’s Detective, written by Manchester born author, Simon Kurt Unsworth, will be available to buy in the UK from 12 March 2015. As publishers Del Rey UK have now announced the UK release date, you can find out how to grab a copy from the Random House website. The plot follows information man, Thomas Fool, as he is sent through the depths of Hell to investigate a murder that even the bureaucracy of the underworld cannot tolerate.
