“With his latest, DiLouie puts his own spin on the classic ‘rock-n-roll is evil’ tale with a devilish punk band ready to start the end of the world.”
1998: Lily Lawlor and Drake Morgan begin a punk band. The charismatic Drake inspires faith in some, fear in others, but Lily is a believer.
1999: A Battle of the Bands, except this one ends in a shocking death. The ensuing riot claims the lives of three teenagers.
2009: Ten years later, at the height of stardom, Lily enters a police station and confesses to murder.
Today: Refusing interviews about the riot, Lily’s confession, or anything else for that matter, Lily and the band have been steadfast in their decision, until now. Lily’s agreed to do an interview, and it seems the rest of the band is following her lead.
A story of prophecy, death, and the apocalypse. Love lost and love found. A story about the antichrist.
It could all be true, or maybe none of it is true.
Either way, this is their story. And they’re sticking to it.
Why we’re excited about this book:
When it comes to contemporary horror that will send a chill down your spine anytime of the year, Craig DiLouie has his finger on the pulse of the genre. The author of One of Us, The Children of Red Peak, Episode Thirteen, Djinn, and How to Make a Horror Movie and Survive, DiLouie’s short fiction has graced the pages of such publications as Fever Dreams and Before Plan 9: Plans 1-8 from Outer Space. With his latest, DiLouie puts his own spin on the classic ‘rock-n-roll is evil’ tale with a devilish punk band ready to start the end of the world. Andy Marino (The Swarm) says: “Craig DiLouie is the sly officiant presiding over this marriage of heady theology and anthemic punk rock. This book weaves age-old philosophical conundrums into a sensitive, aching, and raw portrait of a band’s rags-to-riches tale. With its lively oral history format, reading My Ex, The Antichrist is like letting Behind the Music take you to hell and back.”, and Lee Murray (Grotesque: Monster Stories) says: “One hell of a performance! With My Ex, the Antichrist, Craig DiLouie once again proves he is a master of the epistolary genre. Immersive, compelling, and chillingly plausible. It’s as if you were there. Resounding.”
Releasing from Run For It 1 July 2025, My Ex, the Antichrist by Craig DiLouie is available for pre-order now.
