The Cutting Room – Quatermass

QuatermassQuatermass follows a professor and his daughter who investigate an alien invasion.

Why we’re looking forward to this: With just about everything under the sun having been given the reboot treatment in the last few years, it’s about time that one of the quintessential British science fiction / horror series was given its time in the sun.

The Quatermass Experiment originally aired in 1953, with Reginald Tate in the title role, and spawned two sequels in the form of 1955’s Quatermass II and 1958’s Quatermass and the Pit, as well as a 1979 remake and 2005 live television performance of the tale.

The influence of Quatermass on subsequent British television shows like Blake’s 7, Dr Who and Red Dwarf, as well as American shows like the The X-Files mean that this new version, being written by The League of Gentlemen co-creator Jeremy Dyson , is something that we at This Is Horror are particular curious about.

Quatermass is currently in production by BBC America and will likely invade our screens in 2017.

  1. I’m a hug Quatermass fan, and so I hope this will be treated well, but fear it won’t…
