John Carpenter season in Manchester

Grimm Up North have announced tickets are available for their John Carpenter season which begins on 23 May with They Live. The other films featured in the season will be Escape from New York on 5 June, Big Trouble in Little China on 26 June and The Thing on 17 July. Individual tickets can be bought for £6.50 each or a season ticket can be picked up for only £20. Tickets can be bought now from the Grimm Up North website.

Horror Uncut takes shape

The Table of Contents for Horror Uncut: Tales of Social Insecurity and Economic Unease has been released. The book has been put together by Tom Johnstone, who has carried on the work that Joel Lane started before his tragic passing at the end of last year. The book will feature stories by authors including Joel Lane, Gary McMahon, Simon Bestwick and Alison Littlewood. The book will be available later this year from Gray Friar Press.

White Settlers details arrive

White Settlers, the new film directed by Grimmfest head honcho Simeon Halligan, is to be screened at Cannes Film Festival on 16 May. The film is the story of a young couple who take a weekend break in a remote part of Scotland, only to find out that they have immediately outstayed their welcome. Pollyanna McIntosh (The Woman) and Lee Williams (The Tudors) take the central roles. The film will hit the festival circuit later this year.

M explores humanity’s darker side

M is the brand new horror and crime magazine from Big Pulp Publications. The magazine aims to explore the darker recesses of the human psyche publishing fiction which depicts the horrendous actions humans can inflict upon each other. The magazine is physically available now direct from the publishers and can be bought electronically from both Amazon and Smashwords.
