News Round-up Week Ending 16 September 2016

Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

Scare Kingdom Scream Park back for an eighth year

Located near to Preston, Lancashire, the Scare Kingdom Scream Park will once again be opening its gates in time for the Halloween season. This year’s attractions include a walk through the filth-strewn streets of London during the black death, The House of Gaunt, a house of living, twisted marionettes and a classic haunted house. The park opens on 1 October and will be open on selected nights until 7 November. For full details, take a look at the website, here.


Tales of Poe anthology comes to DVD and digital download October 11th

Directed by Bart Mastronardi and Alan Rowe Kelly, Tales of Poe is a horror anthology featuring some of the master writer’s darkest stories, including The Tell Tale Heart and Dreams. The anthology features a strong cast, including Adrienne King (Friday the 13th) and Caroline Williams (Halloween 2) amongst others. The Exorcist III blu-ray to hit the shelves in time for Halloween

As mentioned previously on This is Horror, The Excorcist III is to receive a blu-ray release. The date has been confirmed as 25 October, so just in time for Halloween. The most exciting thing about the release is undoubtedly that it is the first home release to feature the director’s cut of the cult film. There are more than four hours of special features in the set, including commentaries and more. For more information on the upcoming release, click here.


Grisly metamorphoses in DVD release, Bite

Released on 10 October, Bite tells the story of girlfriends on a pre-wedding trip, during which the bride to be is bitten by an unseen insect. On her return, she begins to undergo changes and eventually, starts to crave human flesh. The film has received much attention for the gruesome transformation scenes, which led to a number of audience members requiring sick bags during the premiere of the film. Wolf Creek TV series to be released on DVD, Blu-ray and on-demand

Eureka Entertainment will be releasing the Fox series of Wolf Creek on DVD, Blu-ray and on-demand on 10 October. Starring Lucy Fry (Vampire Academy) as Eve, Wolf Creek offers a twist on the hugely successful films in that, after witnessing the murder of her family, Eve sets out to bring Mick, their killer, to justice.
