The Cutting Room: Shed of the Dead

Shed of the Dead

shedofthedeadA group of folk find themselves in the middle of an urban zombie apocalypse, and come together in the titular shed for a spot of horror comedy.

Why we’re looking forward to this: Okay, the synopsis may not sound like the most exciting thing that you’ve read all day, and the title may be somewhat reminiscent of the awesome Shaun of the Dead, but if we were to mention that Kane Hodder, Michael Berryman, Bill Moseley and Emily Booth are all on board then perhaps you begin to see why our interest has been piqued by this one.

Hodder needs no introduction to TIH readers, of course, having played Jason Voorhees on no less than four occasions, and Berryman will forever be associated with Wes Craven’s original The Hills Have Eyes. Moseley is synonymous with Chop Top from Tobe Hooper’s crininally underrated The Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2, itself a superb horror comedy, and Emily Booth is in pretty much everything on the Horror Channel.

Director Drew Cullingham is promising a film with a sinister and adult edge to its comedy, which is always welcome when done well, and with Hodder, Moseley, and Berryman involved, there’s a good chance that the script is of a sufficiently high quality to attract such genre stalwarts.

If all that isn’t enough to whet your appetite, then there’s one last cast member that makes Shed of the Dead a must see – the legendary Brian Blessed. Yes, the owner of the most awesome voice in cinematic history, not to mention an impressive beard, has signed up for an appearance, so for that reason alone we’re in.

Shed of the Dead begins filming in the summer.
