The Cutting Room: Broken

Broken movieIn England to make a fresh start after a harrowing childhood, Evie takes a job as an agency carer and is quickly placed with tetraplegic patient John. But looking after the bitter former rock star and his excessive demands is emotionally and physically draining. Forced to go beyond the call of duty and tormented by her past shame, an explosive clash of personalities ensues and it’s only a matter of time before someone terrifyingly snaps.

Why we’re looking forward to this: While we love a good visceral, gore laden film as much as the next genre fan, sometimes it’s the more psychological movies that leave the bigger impression and Broken looks to be a real head trip in this direction.

Judging by the trailer, Morjana Alaoui (Evie)—whose performance in the original version of Martyrs was stunning—is sure to bring an intensity to her battle of wills with Mel Raido (John) that should make for a nerve shredding ride for the audience at FrightFest where Broken receives its premiere on Saturday 28 August at FrightFest.
