Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

Limited edition chapbook from Dim Shores to benefit Joseph S. Pulver

Almost everyone in the horror community will likely be aware of a complicated and severe health issue which struck horror writer Joseph S. Pulver recently, leading him to be hospitalised for over a month. Dim Shores press decided they want to do something to help and so The Resplendent Troswoman Below has received a release as a limited edition chapbook. With a run of only two hundred copies, the book is available from the Dim Shores web store, with all proceeds going to Joseph and his family to help cover medical bills. The book is written by Joseph himself, collaborating with Edward Morris, two powerful voices within weird fiction. Cover art was produced by the talented Steve Santiago and interior art was produced by Greg Chapman, Nick Gucker, Dave Felton and Brendan O’Connell. A serial killer tale with a difference in Arjay Lewis’ The Muse

Famous writer Jack Court is hiding two dark secrets, first that he is a serial killer and second that he harbours an antediluvian creature within himself that gives him the power to stay young and to avoid capture for his crimes. When he is struck by a rogue driver, the creature leaves him and attaches itself to another, unknown writer. His work begins to improve but he begins to have dreams of blood. Grimmfest 2017 announces headline films ahead of this year’s festival

With Grimmfest just around the corner, on the weekend of 5 to 8 October at Manchester’s Printworks, some of the top films to look out for have been announced. This year’s line-up will include world premieres of Borley Rectory, a retro haunted house-inspired piece, which cleverly uses live action, stills, paintings and model work to create a unique atmosphere. There is also the mockumentary, Fake Blood, which deals with the difference between film-based and real life violence. There is also the European premiere of Mohawk, one sure to be a hit with fans of last year’s Bone Tomahawk. PS Publishing start taking pre-orders for Ramsey Campbell’s second book of the Brichester Mythos trilogy

The long awaited sequel to The Searching Dead, by Ramsey Campbell is almost with us, and PS Publishing now have the second book, Born to the Dark up on their website for pre-order. The initial release is available only in hardcover, starting at twenty pounds, though there is a limited edition version with a slip case, signed by the author, with only a hundred copies available. Fans of the first book may also wish to know that a super deluxe edition of The Searching Dead has been released to coincide with the new book’s release.
