Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

 

Adam Nevill’s The Ritual Adaptation Trailer and Release Date

The film adaptation of horror icon Adam Nevill’s novel The Ritual is coming to theaters in a limited run (UK and Irish cinemas) Friday, October 13th, 2017. Produced by Andy Serkis through his The Imaginarium company, the film stars Rafe Spall (Life of Pi) Arsher Ali, (Line of Duty), Robert James-Collier (Downton Abbey), and Sam Troughton (Alien vs. Predator) and is directed by David Bruckner of V/H/S and Southbound fame. Four friends hike through the Scandinavian forest following the death of a mutual friend. Alone, lost, and bewildered by the horrific things they find in the trees, the men come face to face with an unnamable horror.

 

 

Mr. Higgins Comes Home Signals Mike Mignola’s Return to Comics

Featuring a story by comic legend Mike Mignola (Hellboy) and art by Warwick Johnson-Caldwell, Dark Horse presents Mr. Higgins Comes Home. When a couple of vampire hunters convince Higgins to return to the scene of his wife’s death, he must face what happened at Castle Golga head on. This is the first venture back into comics for Mignola since finishing his Hellboy in Hell series. Fortunately, there’s plenty of the “Mignola-verse” still currently running with his BPRD series, Lobster Johnson: The Pirate’s Ghost, and more. The graphic novel releases October 25th, 2017.

Horror Channel FrightFest 2017 Lineup Announced

For its 18th year, Horror Channel FrightFest goes back to London with a plethora of horror films up for exhibition. Covering 5 screens, with 64 films, spanning 14 countries and 5 continents, the festival runs from August 24th – August 28th, 2017, at Cineworld Leicester Square and The Prince Charles Cinema. With an incredible lineup, including an opening night showing of Cult of Chucky, this festival is gearing up to be one to attend. Including a special screening of Leatherface, the prequel to the original The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, as well as screenings of films such as To Hell and Back: The Kane Hodder Story, Devil’s Gate, Death Note, 68 Kill, and much more, this is the festival you don’t want to miss. Eric Red’s The Wolves of El Diablo Available for Pre-Order

Los Angeles based writer, novelist, producer, and director Eric Red unleashes his latest novel, published by SST Publications.
