Grimmfest announces 2014 lineup

Grimmfest have announced the full lineup for 2014’s event, which runs 2-5 October. Friday sees prog rock legends Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin performing a live score to Dario Argento’s Suspiria, followed by a rare outing for the Argent cut of Dawn of the Dead. Among the horrific offerings over the four days are RomZomCom Life After Beth, German slasher The Samurai and the self-explanatory Wolfcop. For the full lineup visit the Grimmfest website.

Nightbreed ‘Cabal’ Cut out for Halloween

For many years the so called ‘Cabal’ cut of Clive Barker’s Nightbreed has been almost as mythological as the creatures that inhabit the film’s Midian community. Now, after a Herculean effort by Scream Factory that saw them unearth over 600 boxes of lost material, the movie has been restored to Barker’s original vision, with almost an hour of extra footage reinstated. Werewolf Rising rises on DVD

Deep in the woods lives an unimaginable terror, that wreaks death and destruction when the moon is full. Our money’s on a werewolf, and given that the trailer below is for Werewolf Rising which comes out on DVD from image entertainment on 8th September, I’m fairly confident we’re onto a winner [Written and directed by This Is Horror favourite, BC Furtney. Crystal Lake Publishing want YOU!

Following on from their recent Horror 101 publication, Crystal Lake Publishing are seeking contributors for their latest project, called Horror 102, which will be aimed at anybody who has an interest in writing, producing or directing horror movies. Having already enlisted such luminaries as Wes Craven, Mick Garris, John Skipp and Graham Masterton to name but four, anybody who has experience in these fields and thinks they may have an article worth pitching can check out their site here and perhaps find themselves in some very esteemed company indeed.

The End of All Beginnings arrives

Horror author John F D Taff’s new novel is released by Grey Matter Press on 23rd September, and contains five novellas that promise to explore the painful and emotional horrors of life, love and loss through the ages. Dubbed the ‘King of Pain’, Taff’s new collection is praised by none other than Jack Ketchum and is available in both trade paperback and a variety of digital formats.
