Gray Friar Press have announced the release of a brand new anthology, from the editors of Never Again. Horror Uncut is brought to you by co-editors Tom Johnstone and Joel Lane, who sadly passed away whilst working on the book. The collection collates tales of social insecurity and economic unease. Horror Uncut showcases works from talented authors such as Alison Littlewood, John Llewellyn Probert, Gary McMahon, Joel Lane and Simon Bestwick. The book can be bought now from the Gray Friar Press website.

Manchester Gothic Festival

Following last year’s success, Manchester Gothic Festival will be returning this year from 23-26 October. Showcasing their expertise on all things gothic, Manchester Metropolitan University will be exhibiting a varied programme of events and activities covering all aspects of gothic culture. Amongst the events, which will be scattered across the city, Waterstone’s will be hosting Twisted Tales of Austerity comprised of readings from Horror Uncut co-editor Tom Johnstone, Laura Mauro the creative mind behind Ptichka and Rosanne Rabinowitz author of short story “Pieces of Ourselves”.  This is only one of the many offerings from the University, with plenty of tours, talks, exhibitions and narratives to entice all gothic enthusiasts.

The Freak Show gears up for grand opening

American Horror Story is back on our screens for a fourth season on 8 October. The aptly named Freak Show maps the story of one of the dwindling American freak shows and its battle for survival in 1950’s Florida. For a glimpse of the ghastly characters, the trailer gives an insight into what to expect next month.

Dinklage lands in a thicket

Gianni Nunnari’s production company, Hollywood Gang Productions, have revealed that they are developing Joe Lansdale’s crime thriller The Thicket, with Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage to take centre stage as bounty hunter Shorty. Lansdale’s gritty crime thriller, set in East Texas, narrates the story of Jack, who initiates a rescue mission to save his sister from Cut Throat Bill and his gang of violent bootlickers. There is no release date as yet but This Is Horror will bring you details of the film as they emerge.
