Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week…

Ring Sequel, Rings, Sees Old Themes Brought Up To Date

A trailer for Rings, the sequel to the 2002 original Ring, sees the franchise brought up to date for the digital age. The trailer for the film, scheduled for release around Halloween, features the female protagonist talking to a familiar looking young girl, as well as her boyfriend showing an interest in an online subculture, obsessed with the original video of the first movie, which leads people to die seven days after watching. If the trailer is anything to go by, the body count will be high in this sequel, as witnessed by the plane crash caused by the evil girl at the centre of it all. Watch the trailer, below.


Ural Garrett Releases Urban Horror Novel Black Macabre

Black Macabre

Writer, journalist and photographer Ural Garrett has released Black Macabre Vol.1: Thanking Evil, described as the ‘darkest Faustian revenge story ever.’ A celebrated voice in the Inglewood, California community, Garrett, who has written for HipHopDX and others, turns his hand to horror, but with an urban twist. Ibiza Undead Premieres at Frightfest 2016

Ibiza Undead

Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners) and Matt King (Peepshow) star in the comedy-zombie-summer-holiday release Ibiza Undead. Directed by Andy Edwards, the film is set to feature gore and laughs in equal measure and is receiving its premiere showing at FrightFest tonight (26 August). As filming took place on location in Ibiza, the director has claimed that some of the extras are, in essence, real zombies. More information can be found here, or watch the trailer below.


Crystal Lake Publishing Unleash Tales from the Lake Volume 3Tales from the Lake

Edited by Monique Snyman, Tales from the Lake Vol 3 is scheduled for release on the 30 September. A collection of 19 short stories, it promises stories involving books with the power to dole out pleasure and pain, as well as a story from a long abandoned hospital by Sergio Pereira (Don’t steal from the Devil).
