The Wicker Tree burns down UK TV

On Saturday 22 November, Horror Channel will show the UK Premiere of Robin Hardy’s The Wicker Tree. The film boasts renowned actor Christopher Lee amongst its ranks, which tips its hat to the 1973 cult classic film, The Wicker Man. The plot follows two devout Christians, Beth (Brittania Nichols) and Steve (Henry Garrett), who travel into the depths of Scotland to preach. It is not long before they discover the true horror of Celtic Pagan rituals.

Grimmfest Halloween Special

In collaboration with the Days of Fear and Wonder and The Manchester Science Festival, Grimm Up North will be screening a number of classic horror films at several venues across the city to celebrate Halloween. Supported by Film Hub North West, Grimmfest ensure that horror fans from across the city will get their fix with a double bill of Terry Gilliam, Paul Verhoeven and Ridley Scott films from Wednesday 29 October – Friday 31 October. On top of this, Retro and Dangerous will be holding a double bill screening of Hocus Pocus and Beetlejuice at Gorilla. Let The Outsiders In

British weird fiction writer James Everington has announced that his latest story “Impossible Colours” will be published in Crystal Lake Publishing’s Lovecraft inspired anthology The Outsiders, which is scheduled for release later this year. Joining Everington’s latest offering, there will be stories from authors V.H. Leslie, Ray Cluley, Stephen Bacon, Gary Fry, and Rosanne Rabinowitz. The stories are all based around Priory, the gated community setting in which the weird and terrible will unfold.
