Robert Lloyd Parry as M R James 3 credit Shelagh BidwellCapcom reveal new downloadable modes on Resident Evil 6

Capcom have announced that there will be new gaming modes and additional content launched following the release of Resident Evil 6 on 2 October. The new content will be downloadable and the new gameplay modes will expand on the multi-player aspects of the game.

Capcom said, “Survivors Mode takes the classic solo- and team-based versus mode and adds a twist. Get killed and you respawn as an enemy character with the ability to attack the human characters. Take down two human characters to resurrect in human form. Last man or team standing wins. In Predator Mode, one player takes on the role of the Ustanak, the fearsome B.O.W. that stalks Jake Muller throughout his campaign, and tries to eliminate the human players.  The humans’ task: stop the deadly B.O.W. in its tracks, or at least survive until the end of the session.”

M. R. James performances

Full details of the schedule can be found on the Nunkie Productions website or for information on private performances email roblloydparry@hotmail.com.

Young adult zombie novel Twice Shy

Twice Shy is written by high school teacher and horror novelist Patrick Freivald and will be released on 26 October 2012.

“I set out to write a zombie thriller/teen melodrama mash-up” said Freivald, “a satire true to the essential tropes of each genre but refreshing enough to be something new. I knew I nailed it when I distributed the first draft and some teenage girls thought it was a beautiful and touching story along the lines of that mediocre masterwork Twilight, some adults thought it was a slow-burn horror thriller, and others thought it was hilarious.”

When asked about what Twice Shy will add to the genre, Freivald said, “I don’t consider myself a zombie author, or a young adult author, or a horror author. I write what appeals to me, and am not overly concerned how others choose to label it. That said, I read The Stand when I was, oh, nine-ish, and have always had a soft place in my heart for the off-beat and macabre. My school years were filled with King, Straub, Koontz, and Lovecraft, my college years with Barker, Simmons, and Gaiman. I’ve always loved zombie movies, and in spite of purporting to be an author with ‘mad wordsmithing skillzorz, yo’, I’ve never quite been able to articulate the appeal. I like ’em because I like ’em, and they fit this story to a ‘T’.”

The novel will be available as a paperback and eBook in bookshops and on Amazon. Cemetery Dance have created one hundred signed, limited-edition, numbered hardcovers which are available now while supplies last.
