Here’s a selection of some of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week…

Wolf Creek series scheduled for TV, VOD and DVD release

Eureka entertainment’s new Wolf Creek TV series is scheduled for a UK TV release, with the first episode airing on Fox UK on Tuesday 30th August at 10:30pm. Video on demand release will happen 24 hours after each episodes air time, while the DVD and digital download is scheduled for a release on 6th October. In something of a twist from the popular 2005 film, the series will feature the story of Eve, a young girl who, having been kidnapped by the twisted outback murderer, Mick, witnesses her family’s execution but manages to escape and then tries to carry out her revenge throughout the series.

Downhill screenshotFeaturing a mixture of GoPro footage with beautiful cinematography, Downhill finds biking star, Joe, convinced to come out of retirement. On a practise run in the Chilean mountains with his girlfriend, they discover a man dying of a mysterious virus and are quickly fleeing for their lives. Other thrills promised include deranged hunters, naked witches and more. The film will be showing at Frightfest on Sunday 28th August. The full schedule can be found here.


Manchester’s Albert Hall to host screening of the original Psycho with live symphonic score accompaniment

 

Psycho shower scene30th October will see Manchester’s Albert Hall turned into a place of true Halloween horror, as the original Psycho will be shown on the big screen, with the soundtrack being performed live by Manchester’s own Camerata orchestra. Tickets are already on sale and the venue expect to sell out the event after the same program was a great success in previous performances in Liverpool, London and Bristol. Wyndham Price’s Crow to premiere at Frightfest

 

Crow posterAlso on the bill for Sunday 28th August at Frightfest is Crow. Directed by Wyndham Price (Dante’s Daemon) and starring Nick Moran (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and veteran Terence Stamp (Young Guns, Superman II), Crow finds a ruthless property developer looking to build on a patch of ancient forest. A boy named Crow is protector of the wood and will do whatever he can to stop its destruction, helped by the forces of nature. Details of when to catch it at Frightfest can be found here.
