Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …
Genre features for January’s Sundance Film Festival announced
With one of the year’s most prestigious and earliest film festivals right around the corner, the genre film roster for the Sundance Film Festival has now been announced. Head over to Bloody Disgusting for a run down on the films selected, here.
Anime and horror fans can start to get excited about Tokyo Ghoul, on general release in January
After receiving a great deal of praise at its premiere UK showing at the end of November, the countdown has begun for the release of Tokyo Ghoul, a live action adaptation of the anime feature of the same name. The film tells the story of Ken Kaneki (Masataka Kubota), a quiet man living in fear of ghouls – creatures who share human skin who also crave the taste of it. After a horrifying experience, he finds himself a hybrid of human and ghoul and has to learn to fight against the hunger for human flesh.
True to life horror, Rarest Silence, to be shown only in Ireland on 4 December
A film said to be so scary that it makes the Blair Witch Project seem like Peppa Pig, Rarest Silence is to get a limited release in the Republic of Ireland only, starting 4 December (next Monday). To hammer home just how scary this film is supposed to be, the trailer has received an international ban and, as such, details on the movie are extremely hard to come by. So, anyone looking to get the scare of the year should look no further. You can read more information and find a link to buy tickets, here.
