“With his debut novel, Lyons presents us with the camping trip from Hell, set in the deep woods of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, a region with its own history of strange creatures that roam the night.”
School’s out! For Parker, Chloe, and their four friends, that means only one thing … time for a camping trip in New Jersey’s Pine Barrens. Millions of acres of forest set in the middle of the state.
A nasty argument turns dangerous, leaving one dead and the killer on the loose. Darkness comes, and the survivors look for answers as the woods begin to change.
By morning, more have disappeared, and the trail into the woods is gone. Now totally lost and hungry, they have to escape, but the forest has other plans for them.
Something dark is dreaming in a lake … calling out to them.
And the killer is still out there, as one of their own begins to change into something … hungry.
Why we’re excited about this book:
Matthew Lyons is relatively new to the horror scene, with dozens of short-stories published online and in print. His fiction has appeared in Black Dandy, Kzine, and the 2018 edition of Best American Short Stories among others. Lyons work has been nominated for Best Small Fictions and the Best of the Net. With his debut novel, Lyons presents us with the camping trip from Hell, set in the deep woods of the New Jersey Pine Barrens, a region with its own history of strange creatures that roam the night.
Damien Angelica Walters (The Dead Girls Club) says: “The Night Will Find Us is an engrossing story of six teenagers, a camping trip, and a million-acre forest that distorts both its shape and the truth. With each turn of the page, the tension and unease grows until it becomes a claustrophobic nightmare. You’ll view the woods in a whole new light after reading this one. Highly recommended!” And Andy Davidson (In the Valley of the Sun, The Boatman’s Daughter) says: “The Night Will Find Us reads like a Stan Winston creature feature by way of Richard Bachman, with a dash of H.P. Lovecraft to boot. It’s sharply written, mesmerizing, and propulsive. Matthew Lyons’ debut novel is first-rate in every respect.”
Forthcoming from Keylight Books 20 October 2020, The Night Will Find Us by Matthew Lyons is available for pre-order now.
