Look Out For … Rovers by Richard Lange

Rovers by Richard Lange - cover“With the American Bicentennial celebration as his backdrop, Lange sends us on a wild road trip to Vegas with two brothers trying to save the life of a young girl running from a violent undead biker gang.”

In the Summer of 1976, two brothers, Jesse and Edgar, hunt for victims on the road. Nearly indestructible beings, they are rovers, and they search the night for human blood. They’ve roamed town to town for seventy years, lurking on the fringes, hunting down societies forgotten to feed on.

Then a young woman upends their routine, and Jesse must face his past to save her life. Trailed by a murderous biker gang, they head to Vegas, America’s Bicentennial bearing down.

Why we’re excited about this book:

Richard Lange is renown for his mystery and crime writing, but is one of those writers probably comfortable writing in any genre. The author of Angel Baby, This Wicked World, The Smack, and the story collections Sweet Nothing and Dead Boys, Lange is also the recipient of the Hammett Prize from the International Association of Crime Writers and was a 2009 Guggenheim Fellow. With the American Bicentennial celebration as his backdrop, Lange sends us on a wild road trip to Vegas with two brothers trying to save the life of a young girl running from a violent undead biker gang. Zoje Stage (Baby Teeth, Wonderland) says: “Rovers is a gritty and vivid encounter with the creatures that haunt the underbelly of Americana. Lange utilizes his immense skill with prose and characters to create a dynamic and visceral page-turner. I devoured this book!” and Andy Davidson (In the Valley of the Sun, The Boatman’s Daughter) calls Rovers: “A lean, blistering tale shot through with heartbreak and sunlight … magnificent horror. “

Unleashing from Mulholland Books 27 July 2021, Rovers by Richard Lange is available for pre-order now.
