Look Out For … Recall Night by Alan Baxter

Recall Night by Alan Baxter - cover“With his latest release, Baxter returns to his Eli Carver character with a new supernatural tale, providing an excellent place to start the series as well as a continuation for those eager for the next installment.”

After a period of self-imposed exile in Canada, Eli Carver makes his return to the US to start his life over. One encounter with a mysterious woman on a train later, Eli’s plans begin to unravel as he discovers this woman has her own dangerous problems from the past.

When they arrive in New York, the two find themselves caught in the middle of a war between two crime syndicates. With the ghosts of his own past continuing to work their torture on Eli, he finds himself on a dark and deadly path of arcane religion and dangerous rituals of the occult.

Why we’re excited about this book:

Alan Baxter is a name we see popping up again and again in the horror community, and with good reason. Baxter is the author of Devouring Dark, Hidden City, the Alex Caine series (Bound, Obsidian, and Abduction), Realmshift and Magesign, as well as the novellas Manifest Recall, The Book Club, and most recently, The Roo, among others. His two short story collections, Crow Shine and Served Cold, curate his shorter efforts within a range of speculative genres. With his latest release, Baxter returns to his Eli Carver character with a new supernatural tale, providing an excellent place to start the series as well as a continuation for those eager for the next installment. Brian Keene (The Complex, Ghoul) says: “Eli Carver is back with a vengeance! That’s bad news for some but good news for readers. Recall Night is brutal, gritty fun and a phenomenal follow-up to Manifest Recall.”

Why Alan’s excited about this book:

“When people were so enthusiastic about Manifest Recall, and kept asking for more Eli Carver stories, I was so pleased. But it can be daunting to follow up something popular. I talked with Grey Matter Press and we agreed this could be an ongoing series, so I girded my author loins and set to work on book two. Recall Night is that book, and I’m excited to see it out in the world. I had so much fun revisiting the hyper-violent and criminal world of Eli Carver and his abusive ghosts, and I hope other people enjoy this as much or more than the first book.”

Forthcoming 25 August 2020 from Grey Matter Press, Recall Night by Alan Baxter is available for pre-order now.
