The Cutting Room. Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw

Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw digs into the guts of the successful franchise with all-new interviews with creators James Wan (director of Insidious, The Conjuring, Furious 7) and Leigh Whannell (writer of the Insidious franchise and director of the third film); plus original cast members Tobin Bell, Shawnee Smith and Cary Elwes; and producers of the franchise, Mark Burg and Oren Koules.

Learn about the inspiration for the film from the creators of Saw; get a closer look at the infamous reverse bear trap mask with Shawnee Smith; hear from directors Darren Lynn Bousman (Saw II, Saw III, Saw IV), David Hackl (Saw V) and Kevin Greutert (Saw IV, Saw 3D: The Final Chapter); and see Eli Roth’s (Hostel) take on the “torture porn” genre. In the famous words of Jigsaw, it is time to “make your choice.” Watch or don’t watch. Choose wisely

Why we’re looking forward to this: If you’re anything like us here at This Is Horror then you not only love watching horror movies, you also love knowing everything there is to know about them as well. There have been some amazing documentaries about some of the genres finest franchises in recent years including His Name Was Jason which explored the Friday The 13th films, Never Sleep Again which thoroughly revisited the Nightmare on Elm Street movies, and The Psycho Legacy which, well, you can probably guess.

A retrospective look at the Saw movies is long overdue, and hopefully this 77 minute documentary will give a detailed, if brief compared to the multiple hour running times of the aforementioned other releases, look at what was possibly the goriest, nastiest set of films to hit our screens in the last decade or so.

Game Changer: The Legacy of Saw is currently only available on iTunes, but will hopefully get a proper release in due course.
