Ramsey Campbell, Gary McMahon, Simon Bestwick, Conrad WilliamsWe are incredibly pleased to announce that on Saturday September 22 we will celebrate the launch of our second chapbook Thin Men with Yellow Faces by Gary McMahon and Simon Bestwick with a very special event.

The launch event will be taking place at MadLab in Manchester from 6:30pm and will run through to approximately 8:15pm. Of course, no This Is Horror event is complete without a host and it brings me great pleasure to inform you that our very own award-winning author, Jasper Bark will be curating proceedings.

If you’d like to join us for what promises to be a very special evening of horror literature in Manchester then you can buy tickets for just £3 here. What’s more copies of both Joe & Me and Thin Men with Yellow Faces will be available for the special price of £4 in Manchester for one night only. So if you’re looking to introduce someone else to the strictly limited This Is Horror series, Manchester may well be the ideal time to make a purchase.

Meet the authors

Ramsey Campbell really doesn’t need any introduction, according to the Oxford Companion to English Literature he is “Britain’s most respected living horror writer”. He has won numerous awards including the British Fantasy Award for Best Novel, World and British Fantasy Awards for Best Short Story, and the Bram Stoker Award for Best Novel. Literary critic ST Joshi said of Ramsey, “future generations will regard him as the leading horror writer of our generation, every bit the equal of Lovecraft or Blackwood.”

Gary McMahon is the acclaimed author of the novels Rain Dogs, Hungry Hearts, Pretty Little Dead Things, Dead Bad Things and the award-winning Concrete Grove trilogy. His short fiction has been reprinted in both The Mammoth Book of Best New Horror and The Year’s Best Fantasy & Horror. He lives with his family in Yorkshire, trains in Shotokan karate, and likes running in the rain.

Simon Bestwick is the author of the novels Tide of Souls and The Faceless, the collections A Hazy Shade Of Winter and Pictures of the Dark, and a chapbook, Angels of the Silences. His short fiction has been reprinted in The Best Horror of the Year alongside work by Stephen King and Peter Straub, and shortlisted for the British Fantasy Award. He lives in Lancashire and doesn’t get anywhere near enough sleep.

Conrad Williams is the author of seven novels, four novellas and a collection of short stories. He has won two major prizes for his novels. One was the winner of the August Derleth award for Best Novel, (British Fantasy Awards 2010), while The Unblemished won the International Horror Guild Award for Best Novel in 2007 (he beat the shortlisted Stephen King on both occasions). He won the British Fantasy Award for Best Newcomer in 1993. He won another British Fantasy Award, for Best Novella (The Scalding Rooms) in 2008. In 2009 he was Guest of Honour at the World Horror Convention.

Jasper Bark is an award-winning author, novelist and scriptwriter specialising in comics and graphic novels. His stage presence is second to none as viewers fortunate enough to attend our live events will attest. Jasper is fast becoming the must-see host of all things horror.
