Cell film

Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week…

King’s Cell To Received UK Premiere At FrightFest

The upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s bestselling Cell starring John Cusack and Samuel L Jackson is to receive its UK premiere at the London’s annual FrightFest on Thursday 25 August.

In Cell, Cusack plays one of the few survivors of a murderous epidemic fending off bloodthirsty predators who have been dangerously re-programmed to kill by a mysterious worldwide phone signal. It’s not a zombie movie as such, but then again 28 Days Later wasn’t and that turned out to be something special so there are high hopes for Cell.

Rick Grimes house The Walking Dead

The ultimate collectable for the rabid The Walking Dead fan has just come onto the market. Yes, you can own the very house that Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) slept in, but it doesn’t come cheap. You’ll need north of $650,000 (that’s about £500,000 in English money but climb fast!) to boast that you’ve slept in the same room as arguably Georgia’s most famous fictional Sheriff.

For the curious, here’s a link to the property listing, and if you do end up buying it, send a selfie to us at This Is Horror!

Ibiza Undead World Premiere Set for FrightFest

Ibiza Undead

Another film making its way to FrightFest is director Andy Edwards’s Ibiza Undead, which enjoys its world premiere at the festival on Friday 26 August. Starring Emily Atack (The Inbetweeners), Cara Theobold (Downton Abbey, Overwatch, Crazy Face), Matt King (Peepshow, RocknRolla) and featuring Alex Zane, Ibiza Undead is described a slick horror comedy that’s heavy on both gore and laughs.

Ibiza Undead tells the tale of Alex, Az and Jim heading to Ibiza for their first lad’s holiday. Unfortunately for them, tagging along is Alex’s unimpressed ex-girlfriend Ellie. Arriving in Ibiza, the lads dump Ellie with Alex’s sister Liz, her friend Zara and head to San Antonio to start their week of debauchery. Soon they end up in a San Antonio pub, run by local gangster Karl, where the main attractions aren’t alive… they’re dead! Thanks to Jim’s wild antics, the zombies escape and all hell breaks loose with the entire party island soon battling the undead.
