Saw Returning To Theatres Next Halloween

Saw movie

Every Halloween between 2004 and 2010 was notable for a new Saw film being unleashed into cinemas but after the now incorrectly titled Saw VII: The Final Chapter we thought we’d seen the last of Jigsaw and his deadly games. It turns out, as ever, that you can’t keep a good villain down as Lionsgate have announced that a new entry in the series, tentatively titled Saw: Legacy, will be hitting theatres on 27 October 2017.

Co-creators Leigh Whannell and James Wan are on board as executive producers, but just like Jigsaw himself, Lionsgate are keeping any other details very close to their chest for the time being, but rest assured we’ll keep you informed as and when we know more.

The Thing movie

Scream Factory’s upcoming Collector’s Edition of John Carpenter’s (other) seminal horror classic The Thing will be containing some pretty awesome new features. Chief among them is a new interview with Carpenter himself conducted by fellow genre master Mick Garris, new interviews with the men of Outpost 31, including Keith David, Wilford Bramley, David Clennon, Thomas Waites, Peter Maloney, Richard Masur And Joel Polis, an animated photo gallery detailing a return to the shooting locations of The Thing, and an interview with author Allen Dean Foster about his novelisation of the film.

There are many other new features, alongside pretty much everything that has been included on previous release, all of which can be drooled over here until its release on 20 September.

The Mist Announce Lead Actor And Begins ShootingThe Mist

The upcoming television adaptation of Stephen King’s The Mist has just announced that Boardwalk Empire’s Morgan Spector will be playing the lead role of Kevin Copeland, opposite actress Frances Conroy. The character of Copeland is described as “the epitome of the modern, liberal and civilized man; devoted to his wife and teenaged daughter. He lives his life by high moral values and throughout his life he has refused to give into the anger and prejudice he sees in other people. However, with the arrival of the mist, his moral compass will be put to the test for his and his family’s survival.”

The Mist began shooting in Halifax, Nova Scotia this week and is due to hit screens next year.

First Two Dead Rising Games Coming To PC, PS4, Xbox One

Dead Rising

Dead Rising, Capcom’s love letter to George A Romero’s Dawn of the Dead, is heading to next generation consoles and PC later this year to celebrate the game’s tenth anniversary. It’ll be made available along with the sequel Dead Rising 2 and pseudo sequel Dead Rising 2: Off The Record to bridge the gap until Dead Rising 4 lurches onto our screens in November.

There’s no news yet on what improvements or changes have been made to these ports, though a tweaking of the timer system would be very welcome, but the games are still great fun to play and will be a welcome stop gap until Dead Rising 4 arrives.
