News Round-up Week Ending 21 September 2018

Here’s a small selection of the horror and genre news that caught our eye during the last week …

Things You Need by Kevin Lucia - coverKevin Lucia’s latest release, Things You Need, is coming just in time for the Halloween season. Author of Things Slip Through, Lucia’s work has been featured in numerous anthologies and publications. Returning to Clifton Heights, this story focuses on Handy’s Pawn and Thrift, one of the many shops and locales in the town. A traveling salesman arrives, looking for something he desperately wants. But after dark, well beyond visiting hours, he will soon discover that the things we want are rarely the things we need. Brian Keene says, “Kevin Lucia is this generation’s answer to Charles L. Grant.” Kevin Lucia’s Things You Need, published by Crystal Lake Publishing, releases 28 September 2018, and is available for pre-order now.

We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix - cover

We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix is available now. Hendrix has become somewhat of a household name in the horror circles with his novels Horrorstör and My Best Friends Exorcism, and of course the ever-popular horror reference Paperbacks From Hell. With his latest novel, Hendrix takes us on a hellish road trip, following a washed up metal guitarist as she hunts down the man responsible for ruining her life. Following the nightmarish trail, she uncovers a vast conspiracy in the underbelly of paranoid America. Published by Quirk Books, We Sold Our Souls by Grady Hendrix released 18 September and can be purchased here, or wherever fine books are sold.

Conspiracy Against the Human Race by Thomas LigottiSince its original publication in 2010, Thomas Ligotti’s The Conspiracy Against the Human Race has captured the imaginations of horror fans through-out the world, quite simply because the horrifying conclusions presented within its pages are real. Nominated for the Bram Stoker Award for Superior Achievement in Nonfiction, this book is as close as anyone can get to knowing what Ligotti, and most humans, fear the most: that we are all just living a meaningless nightmare. Coming from Penguin 2 October 2018, The Conspiracy Against the Human Race: A Contrivance of Horror, is being rereleased with a stunning cover by Chris Mars and a new preface by Ligotti himself, and is available for pre-order here and directly from Penguin’s website.
