Look Out For…Revival by Stephen King and Zombie Apocalypse! Endgame by Stephen Jones

revivalRevival by Stephen King

“When he’s firing on all cylinders there are few to match his storytelling abilities.”

In a small New England town, over half a century ago, a shadow falls over a small boy playing with his toy soldiers. Jamie Morton looks up to see a striking man, the new minister. Charles Jacobs, along with his beautiful wife, will transform the local church. The men and boys are all a bit in love with Mrs. Jacobs; the women and girls feel the same about Reverend Jacobs—including Jamie’s mother and beloved sister, Claire. With Jamie, the Reverend shares a deeper bond based on a secret obsession. When tragedy strikes the Jacobs family, this charismatic preacher curses God, mocks all religious belief, and is banished from the shocked town.

Jamie has demons of his own. Wed to his guitar from the age of 13, he plays in bands across the country, living the nomadic lifestyle of bar-band rock and roll while fleeing from his family’s horrific loss. In his mid-thirties—addicted to heroin, stranded, desperate—Jamie meets Charles Jacobs again, with profound consequences for both men. Their bond becomes a pact beyond even the Devil’s devising, and Jamie discovers that revival has many meanings.

Why We’re Excited About This Book: If you’re a King fan you’ll already know why we’re excited, because let’s face it, any new King book is a cause for celebration and a couple of days off work to read it. To the casual reader, though, we’re excited because King has been on a real roll as of late, after a decidedly mediocre patch in the 2000s, 11/22/63, Joyland, Dr Sleep and Mr Mercedes have all shown King to be back on top form, and when he’s firing on all cylinders then there are few to match his storytelling abilities. Revival, with its themes of addiction and fanaticism and its small New England town setting sounds like classic King.

This Book Will Appeal To: King fans, obviously, but also anybody who loves well-crafted horror fiction.

Revival is out on 11 November 2014 from Hodder & Stoughton

“Should deliver more thrills and spills, and bloody mayhem to satisfy even the hardened zombie fiction fan.”

IS THIS THE END . . . OR JUST THE BEGINNING? Human Reanimation Virus (HRV) has spread around the globe and most of the major cities have fallen or been destroyed. As a new race of intelligent zombies rise to power, the remaining pockets of human resistance make a last, desperate stand in the ruins of a world on the brink of unimaginable change. With the final pieces of the epic puzzle falling into place, a centuries-old Endgame is revealed through interconnected emails, articles, reports, diaries and eyewitness accounts, as past and future hang in the balance. In this third and final volume of the original best-selling Zombie Apocalypse! trilogy, Thomas Moreby’s plan for world domination is finally revealed in all its mad glory, as the very fabric of time and space is ripped apart and history itself is about to be changed forever…

Why We’re Excited About This Book: The first two Zombie Apocalypse! books essentially took the World War Z blueprint created by Max Brooks and forged a credible and entertaining complimentary universe rather than just delivering second rate facsimiles. Endgame, as the title suggests is the final part of the trilogy and should deliver more thrills and spills and bloody mayhem to satisfy even the hardened zombie fiction fan.

This Book Will Appeal To: anybody who hopes that the world will end not with a bang, but with braaaaiiiiiiinnsss…….

Zombie Apocalypse! Endgame is out on 30 December 2014 from Robinson
