FrightFest 2013 Film Review: 100 Bloody Acres

100 Bloody Acres

“It’s so bizarre it actually works!”

Reg and Lindsay Morgan run a small organic bone fertiliser company in the outback. Business is thriving thanks to a special ingredient: human bodies. When Reg picks up three youngsters on their way to a music festival, it’s clear they’re not going to make it. Like the tonally similar Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil, 100 Bloody Acres is often hilarious. The over-the-top gore is fun, and there are a few scenes that are as amusing as they are disgusting – incest should never be funny, but this film gets away with it. At the heart of 100 Bloody Acres is a blossoming romance between Reg and his captive, Sophie. It’s all so bizarre that it actually works. A dark comedy which proves that small business owners will do almost anything to get ahead.

Second opinion

If you want big, dumb comedic fun with a similar vibe to Tucker and Dale VS. Evil then this is for you. Comedy horror gold from Damon Herriman, perhaps better known as Dewey Crowe in Justified, and Angus Sampson who performs an act that no one needed to see…

  1. It has some effects like chainsaw massacre but no horror film out there is as good as Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street and Jason.
